- These items are handmade, does it take a long time to recieve them after I purchase?
Nope! We may actually get you your item faster than a big box store! Hats and accessories will ship USPS First Class 1-3 days after you purchase, USPS First Class usually takes between 2-5 days to reach most destinations in the US and 7-15 days to reach international destinations. Size small and medium sweaters now ship USPS Priority, which will arrive 2-3 days after shipment. Many items in our website inventory are ready to ship, other include estimated turnaround time in the listing description. Turn around time for items is no longer than 2 weeks for even the largest made to order items. Feel free to contact us at any time to find out the status of your order. Customers will receive a shipping notice with tracking information via PayPal shipping email when your package goes in the mail.
- Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship our products all over the world! International orders will all ship USPS First Class and should arrive between 7-14 days after shipment. We are happy to upgrade shipping and/or give international customers specific shipping quotes based on destination. International customers are responsible for customs duties. If you are US Military living overseas we will ship sweaters USPS Priority to your APO address. Please feel free to contact us to make sure we are aware of your overseas location so your package will include the necessary customs information.
- How do I measure my pet for a sweater? How do I order a custom sweater?
- Our sweaters come in set sizes here on our website. To size your pet first measure the neck circumference where the collar sits. Then measure the chest circumference behind the front legs and again at the widest part of the belly if there is a dramatic difference between the chest and girth. Finally measure your pet from the base of their neck to where you'd like the sweater to end at the rump. Custom sweaters can be ordered by contacting us at beantownhandmade@yahoo.com. If ordering a custom sweater, it will be made to the measurements you specify, so it's very important to take your time and measure your pet carefully. We also have some custom sweater listings available in our shop on the handmade marketplace Etsy.
- Are the sweaters and hats machine washable?
- Yes, most of our sweaters are made with either an 80% acrylic/20% wool blend or 100% acrylic blend yarn and both are machine washable. We recommend hand washing hats and neck warmers to prevent damage to pom poms and applique. You will receive care instructions with your purchase, and you can find detailed care instructions here on our site.
- Do you make sweaters and hats for large dogs?
- Yes! We have made items for larger dogs from Greyhounds to Great Danes. We create large sweaters custom since there is a wide variety in the size and shape of larger dogs. Contact us for a quote and more information about a sweater, hat or other item for your large pet. Most large sweaters are around just $10 more for the additional materials and labor.

- How do you get Bean and Lily to wear clothing? How do I know if this item will work for my pet?
- We are big advocates of positive reinforcement and rewarding our pets for wearing clothing. If they don't want to wear something, we don't force them. We have never laughed at Bean and Lily for wearing clothes because we don't want them to feel shamed, though we do appreciate that folks get a good laugh out of our photos. We want our pups to be happy and healthy. That's our bottom line. We recommend that you always supervise your pet when they are wearing any clothing and never leave them unattended in a sweater, hat or other accessory.Customers are responsible for determining the suitability of Beantown Handmade products for their individual situation. If you are not happy with your order please please please contact us! We are really friendly, we promise. Our bottom line is happy customers and we always want to make things right. We are happy to refund items within two weeks of purchase less the cost of shipping. ***Custom made items are not refundable and cannot be exchanged, however we are happy to work with you before and after you order to get things just right.
